Professor Arnold Caplan, our friend and colleague, quietly passed away on January 10, 2024. As a coda to the series of “Cell-based Therapies and Tissue Engineering (CTTE)” short courses, which was held annually at CWRU for 22 consecutive years, we present the Arnold I. Caplan Memorial CTTE Conference. This conference is in celebration of Arnold’s life and his lifetime of scientific achievements.

Arnold was a distinguished Professor at Case Western Reserve University from 1969-2024. He is known as the “father of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)”, and established himself as an international leader in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine research with a career that spanned over 40 years working in the developmental biology, stem cell and musculoskeletal fields. His dedication to research, his innate gift for building bridges between the academic community and industry, and his enthusiasm for providing exceptional mentorship and training to generations of students, as well as his contribution of over 490 publications, represent more than an impressive achievement.
Contributors have been invited from the pool of thought leaders who, as repeat speakers over the years, made the CTTE course an annual standout event. The lectures will provide new insights into tissue engineering and regenerative medicine and will honor Arnold’s contributions to the field.

Registration & program information will be posted soon
